Artek's Aalto stool 60 Celebration is a seat worthy of its name – and for good reason! In 2025, Finnish design house Artek marks its 90th anniversary by launching a series of special collections. The first of these festive releases features none other than Tove Jansson's beloved Moomin characters – fittingly, as 2025 also marks 80 years since the publication of the very first Moomin story.
At the heart of the celebration is one of Artek's most iconic designs: first introduced in 1933, Alvar Aalto's stool 60 made its mark in the design world with its groundbreaking L-leg structure, which helped spark the rise of modern Scandinavian design. In honour of the double milestones, the classic stool now features laser-engraved early illustrations and handwritten texts by Tove Jansson, playfully reminiscent of the secret scribbles hidden under an old school desk.
The Artek + Moomin collection is a tribute to Finnish hospitality – often at its best when it's spontaneous and informal. The furniture is designed to make everyone feel welcome because, in a true celebration, even the most unexpected guests belong.
