Kähler’s Kantarel dish takes both its name and form from the golden beauty of the forest – the chanterelle mushroom. Designed by Thora Finnsdottir, the ceramic bowl features delicate, gill-like shapes that echo the silhouette of a chanterelle, while a glossy coloured glaze adds a beautiful, luminous finish.
The handcrafted bowl is suitable for serving use as well as storing small items such as jewellery. Its sculptural form also makes it an eye-catching decorative piece on its own.
Thora Finnsdottir is an Icelandic-Danish artist and designer who works across ceramics, design and visual art. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Finnsdottir is interested in reinterpreting familiar, universal forms through a sculptural approach that honours texture and materiality. She designs both functional objects and art pieces, and her work reflects a deep appreciation for minimalist yet expressive Nordic design.
