Description

HAY's Ram placemat was designed to make setting the table and dining an experiential affair. Decorated with captivating shades of purple, the cotton placemat is a fun and functional detail for both day-to-day and more festive settings.

The placemat belongs to the Ram collection, created by Serbian designer Ana Kras, which includes textiles that play with contrasting colours. The beautiful hues not only frame each other but also the room – it's no coincidence that the name of the collection, Ram, means "frame" in Serbian.

Ana Kras

Ana Kraš is a Serbian-born designer, artist and photographer. Born in Belgrade in 1984, she studied furniture design in her home country before moving to the United States, where she set up her own design studio. Much of Kraš’s work is built around simple shapes and concepts, but through her playful use of colour, material and texture, she creates endlessly varied and distinctive results. One of her most recognised designs is Bonbon, a series of lamps produced by HAY – all of which she originally crafted by hand herself.

    Tabletit ovat kauniit, väriyhdistelmä violetti ja ruskea. Mutta, ne ovat tarkoitukseensa aivan liian ohutta kangasta. Tabletit "kuplivat" pöydän pinnalla, vielä senkin jälkeen, kun yritin ryhdistää tärkillä. Niissä kaikki tahrat myös näkyvät heti ja selvästi. Harmi, koska designin puolesta ovat hyvät.
