Ingo Maurer's Jasna Kuchnia wall light doesn't look like a light fitting at all at first glance – this playful work of light art, modelled on a dish rack, is made up of five white porcelain plates with a dimmable LED light source tucked behind them, casting a gentle glow between the plates. The look can be varied not only by dimming the light but also by adjusting the position of the plates: arrange them in a neat row or a relaxed, asymmetric composition.
True to Ingo Maurer's signature style, there's also a healthy dose of humour. A small matchstick is printed on the front plate, which appears to burst into flame when the light comes on. Jasna Kuchnia is Polish for "bright kitchen", and this inventive wall light is just as well suited to illuminating a kitchen wall as it is to sparking a smile in any other room.
