Jørgen Bækmark (1929–2021) was a Danish cabinetmaker and designer who led the design team of FDB, the Danish Consumers’ Co-operative, from 1958 to 1967. He first trained as a cabinetmaker and later studied furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Bækmark’s design philosophy emphasised usability and human-centred thinking: furniture should adapt to the body – not the other way around. His work is known for its soft lines, timeless appeal and harmonious expression, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.
