GUBI’s Hornbæk portable lamp was created for CORI Hornbæk, a hotel in the seaside town of Hornbæk on Denmark’s northern coast. Its design draws inspiration from sails filled by the wind and from lanterns once carried aboard ships and along the harbour at dusk. Lightweight and easy to carry, the portable lamp sets the mood just as beautifully on a living room side table, as part of a summer table setting or out on the balcony.

Sculptural in form, Hornbæk casts a soft glow that filters beautifully through its sail-like canvas shade. The shade is edged with a yellow decorative trim, whose warm tone recalls golden summer evenings and coastal poppies in bloom. Hornbæk’s maritime character is completed by a ceramic base and a refined ring handle, which makes the lamp easy to move from place to place or hang from a tree branch.
