What’s new: Marimekko & Petra Börner

In Marimekko's new home collection, flowers bloom with vibrant energy.

Marimekko’s new home collection lets nature flourish in all its glory. The collection’s brightest bloom is London-based Swedish artist Petra Börner, whose abstract floral motifs and other nature-inspired patterns burst to life with vibrant energy.

SPRING HAS ARRIVED – and nothing captures its energy quite like the vivid colors and flourishing patterns of Marimekko’s new home collection! Inspired by the anatomy of flowers, the collection is alive with botanical prints and natural patterns, celebrating the beauty of the season.

Since 2022, Marimekko has regularly launched Artist Series collections, collaborating with both renowned artists and emerging talents. This initiative is deeply woven into Marimekko’s history as the brand’s founder, Armi Ratia, used to invite artists to design prints that would bring a distinctive artistic touch to Marimekko’s fashion and homeware.

Marimekko’s Artist Series collections are created in collaboration with artists. This time, the spotlight is on London-based Swedish artist Petra Börner.

Börner’s prints are filled with bold colors and a joyful spirit.

This time, the star of the Artist Series collection is Petra Börner, whose work captures nature through abstract lines, graphic compositions, and rich colors. For Marimekko, Börner has created four unique patterns, each radiating pure joy for life.

Introducing the full collection of patterns: wild Vildstjälk, hopeful Pistilla, sleek Kraftmo, and timeless Vildmo.

Börner has something for lovers of black-and-white minimalism as well! The Kraftmo pattern captivates with its expressive lines.

Delicate Pistilla pattern symbolizes both femininity and hope for the future.

In Börner’s Vildstjälk pattern, flowers weave together, grow freely, and create a sense of movement. This dynamic print is available in two color variations: on cotton fabric, the flowers bloom in bold, vibrant hues, while the jacquard-woven throw features a softer, more muted palette.

Pistilla brings a delicate yet powerful presence to the collection. Originally drawn in ink on paper, the design represents femininity, growth and faith in the future.

Börner's cotton fabrics are perfect for sewing summery curtains, for example.

What blooms and flourishes must also wither and fade. Börner’s peaceful lines beautifully capture the dual nature of nature where vibrancy and decay exist side by side.

But for now, spring is here, so let’s live in the moment!
