What’s new: GUBI’s Copacabana lounge chair

GUBI's Copacabana lounge chair, designed by Mathieu Matégot in 1955, is a playful design classic that effortlessly blends minimalism with eye-catching allure.

GUBI has become famous for its furniture, guaranteed not to leave anyone cold. The Danish brand’s newest addition is the cheerful Copacabana armchair that radiates the warmth and relaxed atmosphere of Brazilian sandy beaches, just as its name suggests. May it bring summer and heat waves even to the more northern terraces and gardens!

SAY WELCOME TO THE HEATWAVE! Danish design brand GUBI has updated the Copacabana lounge chair, originally designed by Mathieu Matégot in the 1950s, for the 2020s. Named after Rio de Janeiro's famous sandy beach, this classic chair will charm you not only with its bold and dynamic design but also with its refreshed color palette.

The Copacabana chair is available in two charming shades: choose either elegantly minimalist black or radiant orange-red to adorn your décor.

Mathieu Matégot’s original style is recognizable, from the distinctive perforated metal Rigitulle backrest to the overall design.

The Copacabana chair strikes with its design that is extremely minimalist and eye-catching at the same time. The lounge chair features a frame crafted from bent metal tubing paired with a round, cushioned seat, making it a true standout piece.

The proportions and ergonomics have been refined from the 1950s to meet today’s requirements but the seating comfort has stayed the same. The curved backrest invites you to sink into the lounge chair’s embrace, lean back and relax completely!

The Copacabana chair’s whimsical form seems to have been drawn with a single stroke of the pen. Straight angles are a rare find in this piece!

The stainless steel construction is also suitable for outdoor use so in addition to your living room, the Copacabana lounge chair will also delight your garden, terrace, and yard.
