Beauty, balance and a touch of pink – the making of Cream Files Studios

Cream Files Studios, the brand-new studio by makeup artist Eevaleena Liedes – or Eevis, as she’s known – has opened in Helsinki, Finland.

In the heart of Helsinki, a soft pink sanctuary awaits. Cream Files Studios is the long-time dream of makeup artist Eevis Liedes, brought to life in collaboration with Finnish Design Shop’s Contract Sales team. The studio offers experiences for both the skin and the senses – step inside and fall in love!

KNOWN TO MANY FINNS simply as Eevis, makeup artist Eevaleena Liedes is a familiar name on red carpets, magazine covers and behind countless beautifully glowing faces. As a trusted beauty expert to many Finnish public figures, her touch has become synonymous with elegance and ease.

Now, her signature aesthetic has found a home of its own: Cream Files Studios, a space dedicated to facials and makeup artistry, opened in January in Helsinki’s Kallio district. Bathed in soft pink hues, the studio invites visitors into a world where gentleness, style, and well-being intertwine harmoniously.

Finnish Design Shop’s Contract Sales team had the pleasure of contributing to the realisation of this beauty-filled sanctuary, and the result is every bit as delightful as Eevis herself.

Cream Files Studios is a perfectly inviting pink paradise.

Hi Eevis! So lovely to get a peek inside your studio. What kind of atmosphere was most important to you when you started designing the space?
“I had written down a few words that I felt described the studio, and I used those as a starting point for the interior. I wanted the space to feel inviting and approachable. Warm, but still fresh and airy. A place where clients feel instantly lighter the moment they walk in – and hopefully even more so after their facial!”

The studio’s interior is a personal blend of old and new. The coffee table is Bit by Normann Copenhagen, while the armchairs are second-hand finds. The artwork on the wall is a discovery from Envy Store.

Soft pink tones are balanced by chrome and steel. The colorful storage boxes are from HAY.

What were your criteria when choosing the furniture for the studio?
“The most important things for me were quality and timelessness. I didn’t want to make a single hasty choice so I carefully considered every purchase. I also wanted to keep the overall look clean, so from the very beginning, it was essential that every piece had a clear place and purpose. Using recycled materials and sourcing furniture second-hand is something I value deeply, too.

I chose different materials to create a sense of contrast. The soft, cloud-like armchairs and the pink wall are grounded by chrome, steel, wood, and, of course, mirrored surfaces. The studio came together in collaboration with my friend, interior designer Anna-Kaisa Melvas. We share the same values and criteria, so finding the right solutions was easy. For example, the vintage armchairs she discovered second-hand are beautiful pieces of old Finnish design.”

The treatment room is softly lit by the atmospheric Minipipistrello lamp. Wall shelves are by Frama.

An artwork by Janine Miettunen adds a personal touch to the room. Lowering the wall paint line was the idea of Eevis’s friend, interior designer Anna-Kaisa Melvas. The chair is Emeco's 1006 Navy chair.

Lighting plays a big role in makeup. How did you design the lighting for your studio?
“There’s plenty of natural light flooding in through the large windows, but for makeup, you almost always need additional lighting. The illuminated mirrors by Finnish brand Lasitehdas provide just the right kind of fresh, natural light for the task. In the front area, LED spotlights add extra brightness. And when a softer, more ambient atmosphere is needed, the paper shade by HAY does the trick. In the treatment room, the warm glow comes from Martinelli Luce’s atmospheric Minipipistrello table lamp – and of course, from candles!”

Large windows and mirrors ensure the studio is flooded with natural light. The white chair is the iconic Aalto K65 high chair by Artek.

What was the biggest challenge when designing the studio?
“There was quite a lot of work involved in painting – not just the walls, but also the interior doors, door frames, and even some wall-mounted furniture. But looking back, I’m really glad we decided to go all in!”

What kind of feedback have you received from your clients?
“Many people have commented on how uplifting the space feels, and also on the refreshing shade of the pink. Pink can sometimes feel overpowering, but I’m so happy I found this exact hue – it feels fresh, elegant, and timeless. One of the key elements was Anna-Kaisa’s brilliant idea to lower the paint line on the walls. I would have never thought of that myself, and I think it really adds to the overall lightness of the space.”

Eevis opted for timeless pieces she’d happily have at home. The oversized paper shade and sculptural Knit coat rack are both by HAY.

You must spend almost as much time at the studio as you do at home! Would you say the interior styles of your home and studio are different?
“My home and the studio are definitely two different worlds, but still, every piece of furniture in the studio could easily find a place in my home. That was actually one of my criteria when choosing furniture – I wanted timeless classics that would blend seamlessly into different interiors.

My family and I moved into our current home at the start of the year, so many things are still finding their place, but I’m not in a rush. I want to choose everything thoughtfully. The house was built in the 1970s and has a strong character with its structure, atrium courtyard, and original colours. I want to respect that character in the interior, while also making the space feel timeless and a little modern. At home, my colour palette is much more muted than in the studio. I lean towards natural materials, wood, black and white tones – and of course, second-hand furniture.”

If she had to choose just one, the charming Minipipistrello lamp is the detail that brings Eevis the most joy.

What’s one detail that makes you happy every time you walk in?
“It’s hard to pick just one – honestly, just stepping into the space always puts a smile on my face! But if I had to choose a single piece, I’d say the Minipipistrello table lamp by Martinelli Luce. There’s something so wonderfully playful about it. I feel a little spark of joy every time I switch it on.”

Even the smallest details of Cream Files Studios have been carefully considered.

Eevis Liedes’s TOP 3 favorites:

  • Go-to makeup product? ”Concealer, brow gel, and blush. I’d be just fine with only those three even if I couldn’t use anything else ever again.”

  • Restaurant? ”Cafe Savoy in Helsinki.”

  • Current favorite song? ”The studio has its own playlist, and whenever I put it on, I feel myself settling into the space. Right now, my favorite track from it is Komorebi by Yumiko Morioka.”
