Stefan Lindfors

Stefan Lindfors (b. 1962) is a Finnish designer known for his multidisciplinary work across design, visual arts and film. He graduated in interior architecture from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1988 and gained international attention immediately upon graduation, when his Scaragoo lamp was showcased at the Milan Furniture Fair on Ingo Maurer’s stand. Since then, Lindfors has designed hundreds of products – from lighting and furniture to tableware and textiles – for companies including Arabia, Iittala, Marimekko, Artek, Hackman and Alessi.

In addition to his design work, Lindfors has taught at various design schools, including his alma mater in Helsinki, and has also worked as a director for commercials and music videos – the music video he directed for HIM’s The Funeral of Hearts won Kerrang! magazine’s Best Music Video Award in 2004. Lindfors has received several prestigious awards, including the Väinö Tanner Trailblazer Award (1992) and the Tokyo Design Award (2001).
