Vitra’s Plywood Mobiles resulted from plywood moulding techniques by Charles and Ray Eames in the 1940s. The experiments led to free, organic shapes that playfully revolved around each other, and which the Eameses hung as mobiles from their ceiling. The Plywood Mobiles are also reminiscent of Ray Eames’ artwork and graphics.
The Plywood Mobile AL, updated to increased dimensions from its original size, features a water-based lacquer finish.
