Marimekko’s Vihkiruusu cotton fabric is adorned with a beautiful rose pattern designed by Maija Isola in 1964. Made of ceramic, the collectible ornament brings a festive touch to your home, whether hung on a Christmas tree, placed on a decorative branch in a vase, or tied to a door handle. Delivered in a gift box, the Vihkiruusu ornament features both a Marimekko stamp and year marking on the base, making it a thoughtful gift and a beautiful addition to any collection.
You may already know the story behind the Vihkiruusu print: Marimekko’s founder, Armi Ratia, once declared that she didn’t want a single floral print in the brand’s collection. Poked on by the comment, Maija Isola went on to create a series of distinctive flower designs that made Ratia change her mind – eight of them were immediately added to Marimekko's collection. Among these now-iconic patterns were Vihkiruusu and Unikko.
