The Ishinomaki bench is a minimalist wooden bench crafted in the DIY spirit of the Japanese brand Ishinomaki Laboratory. Originally designed as temporary seating for an open-air cinema in collaboration with students from Ishinomaki Technical High School, Ishinomaki benches bring together Japanese woodworking traditions and a clean, understated aesthetic. Their versatile design makes them equally at home in a hallway, by the dining table, on a terrace or in public spaces.
The Ishinomaki collection, designed by Keiji Ashizawa, is made from locally sourced hardwood, ensuring both durability and suitability for contract use. The simple benches and stools are characterised by their natural wood grain and finished with a laminated surface, making them resilient enough for outdoor use as well.
