Description

The Tavolo a Dischi dining table by GUBI is a sculptural classic that gently nods to another iconic design. The table's silhouette brings to mind Eero Saarinen’s Tulip table, which in fact served as a source of inspiration for Carlo De Carli when creating the Tavolo a Dischi. In the Italian designer’s version, the familiar tulip-like shape is formed by stacked discs of birch plywood and walnut veneer. While the shape appears simple, the construction is thoughtfully considered: the shifting proportions of the discs create a striped effect along the stem and a fluid curve at the top, highlighted by a brass-toned steel band. The walnut veneer’s lively surface responds to changing light, adding depth and character to the overall look of the table.

Originally designed in 1963, the Tavolo a Dischi now returns to GUBI’s collection after more than four decades, much to the delight of design lovers everywhere.
