Description

Kalevala Jewelry’s Kukasta kukkaan charm – its name meaning “from flower to flower” in Finnish – features a blooming design by Erja Hirvi. Created through freehand painting, the softly undulating form reflects the endless variety of flowers and the gentle pull they have on bees. The silver charm can be paired with chains from the same series or added to your own jewellery. Each piece is handcrafted at Kalevala’s own factory in Finland from recycled silver.

The Kukasta kukkaan charm is part of the Kalevala x Marimekko Garden collection, where Marimekko’s beloved floral prints take on a new life as three-dimensional jewellery. The collection includes five silver flower charms along with matching bracelets and necklaces, inviting you to build your own blooming garden, piece by piece.

  • Care instructions Over time, all silver jewelry darkens. Darkening can be prevented by regular cleaning and proper storage of the jewelry. Dark spots can be removed with a Kalevala cleaning cloth. After cleaning, it is a good idea to wash the jewelry in mild soapy water so that the cleaning agent does not stain the clothes. The cleaning cloth is not suitable for cleaning stones set in silver jewelry.

Erja Hirvi

Erja Hirvi (born 1968) is a Helsinki-based textile and print designer. Considered one of the most renowned Finnish print designers of her generation, Hirvi has had a long and productive career collaborating with the likes of Marimekko and Samuji.

Erja Hirvi began working with print fabrics even before graduating from University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1997, and she is perhaps best known for her print designs for Marimekko, like Lumimarja, Keisarinna, Kaakaopuu and Purnukka. In addition to printed textiles, her understated and often playful patterns have appeared on paper products, interior accessories and woven textiles.

The main source of inspiration for Erja Hirvi is nature as a whole, all that it contains and brings forth. Alongside nature-inspired motifs, her work is often characterised by strong visuals and a multifaceted use of colours. In 2021, Hirvi was selected as Textile designer of the Year by The Finnish Association of Textile Artists TEXO.
