Nadine Dewart

Nadine Dewart is a Belgian artist, born in Canada, who now lives and works in Brussels. Her practice has been shaped by a continuous exploration of materials and techniques: in the early years she worked with paper, three-dimensional pieces and stitching, and over time richer materials such as plastic, velvet and leather found their way in.

Dewart moves between collage, weaving and geometric composition, and in recent years she has also turned towards ceramics, where engraving and painting on clay play a central part. Plants are her main source of inspiration, though she never reproduces nature literally: her organic forms look instead to reflect its vitality, unpredictability and capacity to surprise.
