Carina Seth Andersson – master of glass and ceramics
Carina Seth Andersson is a Swedish designer known for her pared-back yet distinctly recognisable work in glass and ceramics.
Seth Andersson studied at the Orrefors glass school in 1987 and later graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack, the University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, in 1994. She has also shared her expertise as a lecturer at Beckmans School of Design.
Personal yet minimal
Working as an independent designer since 1993, Seth Andersson is especially known for everyday objects crafted from glass and ceramics, where clear form meets carefully considered function. Her work moves effortlessly between the realms of art, craftsmanship and industrial production.
In 1994, Seth Andersson was selected to represent Sweden at the Milan Triennale, and in 1998 she designed glass pieces for the Quite Simply collection as part of the European Capital of Culture project.
International career and collaborations
Carina Seth Andersson collaborates with numerous Scandinavian and international design brands, and her work has also left a mark on Finnish design: in 2016, a collection of vases and textiles inspired by Marimekko’s iconic patterns was launched to great acclaim.
Seth Andersson’s work has been exhibited worldwide and is included in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Designmuseum Denmark.
