The Penguin lounge chair

Description

Audo Copenhagen's The Penguin lounge chair may just have taken a cue from its friendly namesake in the animal kingdom — and like the bird it's named after, this chair certainly can't fly either! What the chair lacks in flight, it more than makes up for in other ways, chief among them an incredible sitting comfort. The ergonomically shaped back and seat cradle the body so well that you'll happily settle into the lounge chair's embrace for a good long while.

Designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen in 1953, The Penguin is now considered one of the masterpieces of the mid-century era. To the delight of design lovers everywhere, Audo Copenhagen has brought this rare Danish classic back within reach of anyone who appreciates good design. Representing Scandinavian design, The Penguin lounge chair finds its place in a living room reading nook, a bedroom, or the lobby of a hotel or restaurant.

Ib Kofod-Larsen

Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921-2003) was one of the pioneers of the Danish modern in the 1950s. Kofod-Larsen received his architecture degree from the Royal Danish Academy, and he also worked as a designer – one of his best-known works is the Knitting Chair from 1951. Rather than a regional phenomenon, Kofod-Larsen saw Scandinavian design as part of international modernism, and he became one of the best-selling Danish architects in the United States in the 1950s. He also collaborated with many furniture manufacturers in the US, Europe and Japan.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

Orders shipped to Australia are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) as following:

For private customers:

  • Orders of AU$1,000 or less (goods value only, excluding shipping and taxes):
    • A 10% GST is included in the prices and paid at checkout.
  • Orders over AU$1,000:
    • GST and any applicable import duties are collected by Australian customs upon arrival and must be paid by the recipient. Since GST is collected by customs, it is deducted from the order total at checkout and shown as a separate line item in the cost breakdown.

Please note that our product pages display prices including 10% GST. As a result, the AU$1,000 threshold effectively applies to orders with a displayed goods value of AU$1,100 or more.

Delivery terms

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by Australian customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.

We want you to love your purchase—that’s why we offer 30-day returns.

Please note that the right to return products does not apply to:

  • Custom-made products which are ordered from the manufacturer according to the customer's wishes.
  • Custom-cut items (including fabrics and replacement webbing).

Please note that returns are subject to a restocking fee, which varies depending on your region and the item being returned. The restocking fee will be deducted from the total refund amount.

Please find detailed return instructions and detailed information about return policy here: Returns

Please note that the return policy only applies to private customers.

GST & Import Charges
