Pia Holm

Pia Holm has graduated as a clothes designer from the University of Art and Design Helsinki. After that she worked as an illustrator and felt she had found the right form of expression for herself. Taking the step to become a textile pattern designer seemed natural; designing fabrics is for her an opportunity to get deeper into art and the product.

The source of inspiration for Pia Holm her life and the environment surrounding her. The natural world around her home in the archipelago is breathtakingly beautiful, but she also enjoys the throng of people in the city, in suitable doses. Her other sources of inspiration are her family, gardening, beautiful books and art. Among Pia Holm’s prints, one of the most popular is perhaps Kurpitsa, an impressive image of a dream garden, in which an abundant pumpkin patch stretches on for as far as the eye can see. The lush fruit pattern is printed on soft velvet, which is also used in a range of interesting scatter cushions. The Kierto print, also designed by Pia Holm, with its wildly swirling autumn leaves, also tells of the incredible strength of plants.
