    As a designer, Mika Piirainen seeks uncluttered forms and makes bold use of color. The keywords of his design are practicality, originality and minimalism. The ideas for the garments he designs come from everyday life. An idea can be inspired for example by an interesting person in the street, a memory from the past, an experience from traveling, being outdoors in nature, listening to music or watching a movie. In 2010 Mika Piirainen received the Golden Hanger Award. The award is a yearly tribute to Finnish fashion design.
