What’s new: X-Line chair
The acclaimed X-Line chair series represents architect Niels Jørgen Haugesen’s 1970s style.
NIELS JØRGEN HAUGESEN’S X-Line chair made its debut back in 1977, captivating a global audience with its modern, minimalist design. Architects and design enthusiasts worldwide embraced the steel chair’s versatility, making it a staple not only in private homes but also in public spaces, offices, and terraces.
After a hiatus from the market, the chair has recently made a triumphant return in the collection of the Danish brand Magnus Olesen. Alongside the original chrome version, the reintroduced collection features powder-coated chairs in black, white, and blue. The enthusiastic reception culminated in the Comeback of the Year award at the Danish Design Awards 2022.

Named after its simple geometric X-shaped base, the X-Line chair’s thin steel frame provides both stability and an aesthetically pleasing look. The steel construction infuses an industrial and graphic touch, further emphasized when the chairs are stacked.

Niels Jørgen Haugesen (1936–2013) was a trained carpenter and furniture architect, who worked for iconic designer Arne Jacobsen before establishing his own practice. Haugesen was awarded the prestigious Danish ID Prize two times, with one of the awards going to the X-Line series.
The X-Line chairs continue to be crafted at Magnus Olesen’s factory in Denmark, located in the quaint village of Durup in Jutland. With its renowned high-quality craftsmanship, Magnus Olesen rightfully holds the title of a pioneer in Danish design – the brand has been producing furniture in its own factory since 1937.
