What’s new: Moomin Arabia’s Haru dinnerware

In addition to plates, bowls, and mugs, also chopstick stands are included in the Haru collection.

Moomin Arabia’s Haru dinnerware draws inspiration from Tove Jansson’s floral motifs, the shapes of coastal stones, and a fusion of Nordic and Japanese aesthetics. Perhaps the most charming tableware launch of this summer, Haru is designed for serving anything from pancakes to pasta and sushi.

MOOMIN ARABIA’S FIRST complete ceramic dinnerware collection, Haru, seamlessly combines Nordic and Japanese influences. The blue-and-white illustrations feature beloved Moomin characters frolicking among island flowers and seashells.

The name Haru pays homage to the island of Klovharu, where Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomins, spent nearly 30 summers with her partner, artist Tuulikki Pietilä, enjoying the tranquility and freedom of the remote archipelago. In Japanese, “haru” means spring, fitting perfectly with the floral design of the collection.

The ceramic, blue-and-white set consists of nine pieces in total. The handleless tea mugs are inspired by Japanese mugs.

The Haru serving plate showcases a group of Mymbles enjoying a relaxing summer day.

The versatile Haru bowl is ideal for everything from rice to muesli and morning porridge.

The design language of the Haru collection was created collaboratively by Finnish-Japanese designer Naoto Niidome and Finnish-French designer Nathalie Lautenbacher. The soft, partly asymmetrical shapes of the collection are reminiscent of smooth stones found along coastal shores.

The blue-and-white illustrations were created by Moomin Arabia’s design team. The lush floral patterns are inspired by Tove Jansson’s wreath designs, found in both Moomin books and her other artistic works.

The mini plate and dipping bowl are perfect for serving small bites and sauces.

The Haru dining plate can also be used as a serving dish – or perhaps for enjoying a nice pile of pancakes!

Haru is a charming blend of Finland and Japan, combining richness with simplicity, and the old with the new. Its blue-and-white aesthetics recall the ornate cobalt blue dishes found in grandmothers’ cupboards and blooming summer paradises near and far.

Ranging from classic dining plates and pasta bowls to chopstick holders and dipping bowls ideal for sushi, this 9-piece collection is versatile enough for a variety of occasions and dishes from all over the world.
