PANTHELLA IS A LAMP every design enthusiast is sure to recognize. Designed by Danish designer Verner Panton, the timelessly elegant luminaire features a light source hidden inside a hemispherical acrylic shade. The trumpet-shaped base completes the look by giving the lamp a distinctive, balanced silhouette that also contributes to the distribution of light.

Panton’s original idea was to create a lamp in which both the shade and the stem would act as reflectors, resulting in Panthella’s soft glow and unmistakable character.

The light source is hidden inside the semi-spherical acrylic shade, from where it shines a soft and inviting light.

The gleaming chrome base completes the overall look.

The timelessly elegant lamp has more than earned its status as a design classic. As all great classics do, it has continued to evolve through new interpretations over the years.

Available in two sizes, the Panthella Portable table lamp offers a smaller, cordless version of the iconic design. The rechargeable and dimmable portable lamp casts a beautiful, soft glow both outdoors and indoors – it lights up your balcony or patio and is easy to grab along with you when you turn in for the night.

The Panthella Portable is designed for use both indoors and outdoors.

The portable luminaire runs on a rechargeable battery that can be replaced if needed.

The small knob located at the top of the shade acts as a power switch.

In 2026, it will be 100 years since the birth of Verner Panton. To mark the event, Louis Poulsen released a new edition of the Panthella Portable, dressed in a delicately translucent shade.

The new colors draw inspiration from Panthella’s original 1970s palette, bringing a touch of nostalgia to the table alongside a generous dose of fresh, contemporary celebration.

The new colors echo the original, subtly translucent shades of the Panthella lamps from the 1970s. Which of the new hues is your favorite?
