TOP 5: Summer design alert – the most inspiring new products of the month

Louis Poulsen's PH 2/1 Portable is a cordless, rechargeable version of Poul Henningsen's classic table lamp.

Finally, the best of all seasons has arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited! Finnish Design Shop’s newest arrivals for May are overflowing with summer vibes that shout sunshine and fun. Now is the time to enjoy the heat and light with all your senses.

Portable beauty

Portable lamps are the heroes of the twilight. Of course, in the land of the midnight sun, the additional light might not be necessary, but with this beauty, you almost start to wish for darker days to arrive!

Louis Poulsen's sculptural PH 2/1 Portable features an ingenious three-shade system created by Poul Henningsen in the 1920s. The mouth-blown opal glass shades have a sandblasted inner surface that will light up your cabin, yard, or garden with a pleasant, glare-free light.

Finarte's colorful Stilleben throw is made from soft organic cotton.

Embracing chilly northern nights

Although May has blessed us with scorching weather, heatwaves are not a given here in the north. Luckily, you can now prepare for chilly nights not just with warmth but also with style! Designed by Antti Kekki, the Stilleben throw features a geometric composition where various colorful graphic shapes intertwine, arranged with each other like flowers and fruits in still-life paintings. Appropriately, the blanket's name means "still life" in German.

Produced in Portugal, the Gelato collection's colors are inspired by the flavors of Italian ice cream and the atmosphere of the summers in Southern Europe.

Get ready for the beach day

Magniberg's high-quality towels are perfect for both your home bathroom and a sunny beach. Bright colors add a cheerful touch to the swim trip: in addition to pink, the Gelato bath sheet is available in other charming shades, ensuring every swimmer will surely find their favorite hue! The soft and plush feel of the towel is achieved by using twisted, long-fiber yarn that makes the terry loops exceptionally airy.

Fiesta Soft Outdoor armchair has an aluminium frame and a seat upholstered in Olefine fabric, which is resistant to both scorching sunshine and drizzling rain.

Sunbathe in style

Fiesta Soft Outdoor armchair from garden furniture manufacturer Fiam ensures you don't have to settle for just lying on the sand at the beach. Designed by Italian Francesco Favagrossa, the lightweight patio chair folds up neatly and is therefore easy to carry wherever the sun shines the brightest. The chair's adjustable backrest, with no less than three different positions, ensures seating comfort.

Because the Fiesta Soft Outdoor lounge chair is designed to be highly ergonomic and comfortable, having a nap becomes more of a rule than an exception – go ahead, just remember to apply plenty of sunscreen before you fall asleep!

Beautifully illustrated Moomin drinking glasses offer stories to those who thirst for them.

Remember to stay hydrated

The new tumblers from Iittala's Moomin collection are perfect for enjoying refreshments during a summer picnic. The illustrations are familiar from previous summers' Moomin mugs and plates, making these drinking glasses an excellent match for the ceramic seasonal tableware if you happen to own them. Of course, the adorable residents of Moominvalley also charm as part of any table setting on their own.

Our editorial team's choice is the Evening swim tumbler, pictured second right, which shows a Moomin family taking a dip in the sea just as the sun is setting. Are we sharing the same favourite or are you perhaps thirsting for another glass more?
