TOP 5: Old friends in new hues – the most inspiring new products of the month

The Aalto vase is hand-crafted and mouth-blown at the Iittala glassworks in Finland.

Meet five design icons reborn for a new season. Updated in captivating colors and fresh finishes, these timeless classics prove that even the most familiar forms can still surprise.

A design icon in a new light

Iittala's Aalto vase is a true icon of Finnish design with an organic form that has captivated admirers for nearly 90 years. Also known as the Savoy vase, the glass classic was Alvar Aalto’s winning entry in a design competition held by the Karhula-Iittala glassworks in 1936. A year later, it was introduced to the world at the Paris World’s Fair in different sizes and colors – and the rest, as they say, is glass design history.

This autumn, the beloved vase appears in a serene linen hue. Available as a limited edition, each vase is mouth-blown at the Iittala Glass Factory, carrying on the craftsmanship and spirit that make Aalto’s design forever modern.

Vaarnii's 001 stool combines familiar geometric shapes in a pleasantly surprising way: the legs are made of rectangular pieces of pinewood, and the seat is shaped like a circle.

Black pine, bold geometry

The 001 Stool by Vaarnii has charmed both sitters and design lovers alike with its striking geometric shape. True to designer Fredrik Paulsen’s signature style, the stool is crafted from solid pine, this time stained a deep black.

The dark surface highlights the wood’s natural character, bringing its lively — at times almost hypnotic — knots and grain to the fore. The result is a bold yet timeless design that celebrates the raw beauty of Finnish pine in its most expressive form.

The portable Quasar table lamp represents modern French design where functionality, innovative details, and eco-friendliness go hand in hand.

Sustainable brilliance

Petite Friture’s Quasar table lamp takes its name from the quasar, a celestial body that shines as brightly as a star. But this star glows in more ways than one: the dimmable Quasar lamp allows you to adjust its color temperature from 2200K (warm white) to 3000K (neutral white) and up to 4000K (cool white), adapting effortlessly to different moods and moments.

Designed by French designer Samy Rio, the portable lamp embodies both functionality and sustainability. Made of aluminium, 20% of which is recycled, Quasar is cordless, fully recyclable, and designed to travel seamlessly from one setting to another.

Anglepoise Original lamp

In its anniversary edition, the Original 1227 desk lamp showcases the timeless appeal of industrial design.

90 years of British elegance

Anglepoise's Original 1227 desk lamp is an elegant British architect lamp designed by George Carwardine back in 1935. This year, the iconic lamp celebrates its 90th anniversary in style with a limited edition of just 400 pieces, highlighting the Original 1227’s signature streamlined, vintage aesthetic at its purest.

The anniversary edition features a polished aluminium body complemented by refined brass details and a woven burgundy textile cable. With its smooth, adjustable arm and directional shade, the lamp makes a perfect companion for any workspace, while its graceful silhouette adds a timeless touch of sophistication to living rooms and bedrooms alike.

The PH 3/2 table lampis part of Poul Henningsen’s celebrated lighting family that is defined by the innovative three-shade system he developed in the 1920s.

Timeless classiness

Louis Poulsen is also unveiling a new special edition of Poul Henningsen’s iconic PH 3/2 lamp. In this exclusive version, the lamp’s three-layered opal glass shades are tinted in a distinctive terracotta hue, which, combined with a patinated brass stand, gives the design a refined and timeless character.

Available from October to December 2025, the PH 3/2 special edition brings a rare warmth and understated grace to any interior.
