Introducing: Ingo Maurer
BEGINNING HIS CAREER in 1966, Ingo Maurer was far more than a designer – he was a poet of light and a visionary who sought not just to brighten spaces, but to infuse them with emotion, imagination, and wonder. Blending bold experimentation with technical innovations and artisanal craftsmanship, his work has left a lasting mark on the entire world of contemporary design.
Ingo Maurer is known for his playful, even humorous approach to design. Pictured here is the mouse-eared Toto table lamp from his whimsical I Ricchi Poveri collection.
In many of Maurer’s designs, material takes the spotlight – especially delicate yet durable Japanese paper, handcrafted to bring each luminaire a sense of lightness and texture.
Material plays a key role in defining the character of the gracefully light Yoruba Rose floor lamp.
Maurer’s lighting designs are far more than functional objects – they’re expressive works of art that breathe life into any space. Whether it’s the whimsical Lucellino or the iconic Zettel’z pendant that invites personal expression, his playful signature style never fails to make an impression.
The Zettel’z pendant is made up of paper sheets, ready to be filled with your own messages, drawings, or poems.
The shape of the WillyDilly pendant can be adjusted by the user to perfectly match the mood and space.
Lucellino Doppio has quite literally grown wings in the most delightful way.
Although Ingo Maurer was a singular visionary, he deeply valued teamwork and brought his ideas to life in close collaboration with his colleagues. Today, the lighting company that bears his name continues to uphold the same spirit of curiosity and creative freedom. From iconic products to large-scale custom installations, the philosophy has remained the same: never place limits on imagination.
Ingo Maurer believed in the power of collaboration. The delicate Poul Poul lamp is the result of a creative partnership with designer Dagmar Mombach.
Another creation by the same designer duo, the Samurai table lamp draws its character from a hand-shaped paper shade.
Ingo Maurer passed away in 2019, leaving behind a profound legacy that continues to shine. His passing marked a great loss not only for the company and his colleagues but for the entire world of design. Today, every new creation by the Ingo Maurer team pays tribute to his visionary spirit and boundless creativity.
