Decorate the bedroom for summer

Beautiful bedding, natural materials, and airy shapes bring summer into the bedroom. Add the finishing touch to the fresh and relaxed ambiance with a colorful vase and self-picked flowers.

Do it with textiles

Textiles are back in the spotlight of interior decoration, and a slightly more dressed-up style is favored in bedding as well. Ferm Living’s Daze bedspread, made from lightweight, machine-washable cotton chambray, has a stitched surface for a vivid and textured look. Place the bedspread at the foot of the bed and let the sheets below show for a relaxed, still finished look. Color options are sand and soft grey.

Marimekko Unikko pillowcase

Summer florals

Glimpses of Marimekko's classic Unikko design can be seen everywhere in today’s trend-conscious interiors. The pattern has been updated in seasonal colors – the sand and light blue version is particularly delightful for the summer season. Patterns and colors are extremely effective interior decoration elements; just one colorful cushion among white sheets gives a whole new lively look to your bed. The pillowcase, made of 100% cotton, measures 50 cm x 60 cm, and the series also includes a duvet cover.

Light cubes

You can, and should, be creative when it comes to bedside tables: not only the traditional table options, but other solutions as well, are ideal next to the bed. Montana Furniture's Panton Wire steel wire cubes charm with their versatile adaptability and simple forms. The cubes can be assembled into large storage solutions, but they can equally well be used individually, on the floor or mounted on the wall. Particularly in a small bedroom, they provide a graceful and light alternative for creating a place to put things down. The storage furniture series, designed by Verner Panton, is manufactured in Denmark even today.

Menu Hashira pendant lights

Japanese spirit

The Hashira pendant lights, launched this year, are a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese rice paper lanterns. The shades made from a fine linen fabric diffuse the light smoothly. The impressive but delicate luminaire is a spot-on choice for the bedroom: it is a large eye-catcher, but still graceful with a light summery feel. The series was designed by the prestigious Norm Architects.

Place to put things down

A bench is one of the most needed pieces of furniture in the bedroom: you always need a place to put down the bedspread or clothes in use. FDB Möbler's J83B bench, a prime example of timeless Danish design, is truly multifunctional in the bedroom and hallway. The combination of solid oak and paper yarn is a classic, perfect for a relaxed summery atmosphere. The bench was designed in the 1950s by Danish cabinetmaker and designer Jørgen Bækmark.

Mirror surface

A mirror is an essential accessory in the dressing room, but it can also be an impressive interior decoration element. And, when properly placed, a mirror will double the light coming into the room or, perhaps, the beautiful landscape that opens from the window. AYTM's Angui mirror’s smooth elliptic shape is narrow enough for even a small space. The strong, pipe-styled frame is made from painted metal.

Tivoli Balloon vases

Add the finishing touch

Details are crucial in creating the right ambiance even in the bedroom. The plump Tivoli Balloon vases in mouth-blown glass are joyful interior decoration elements as they are, but fresh summer flowers give them an even more delightful look. Place a single flower in a narrow vase on the bedside table or a larger vase on a countertop in the bedroom. The bright pale blue and caramel complement a summery fresh color palette, while clear and grey vases highlight the flowers.
