Artek’s new Crafted Through Time collection showcases layers of times and timeless design

This idea shapes Artek’s new Crafted Through Time collection. This carefully curated selection includes special editions, updated interpretations, and pieces revived from the archives, each made from high-quality materials and defined by timeless elegance. These designs bring warmth and character to any space – adding yet another layer to the story.
The Armchair 45 was also Alvar Aalto’s favorite chair, and it’s no wonder: the versatile chair fits perfectly by both a desk and a dining table.
The original chair was designed by Aalto in 1947. Pairing beautifully with it is the A805 floor lamp – also called Angel Wing – designd a few years later for the National Pensions Institute of Helsinki.
The varied materials bring a fresh look to the classic chair. This edition features a honey-stained birch frame accented with a linen webbed seat and backrest.
Alvar Aalto enthusiasts have much to celebrate with the new collection, especially the return of the iconic Aalto Armchair 45 – which was one of Aalto’s personal favorites, too. The elegant chair charms with its versatility, perfectly suited for the dining table, as a desk chair, or simply as a spot for relaxing and lounging.
The dimensions of the Armchair 45 have been updated to better meet modern standards. The frame now features luxurious natural materials, with options for both armrests and seat upholstery in various finishes, adding a refined touch to this timeless classic.
The Armchair 45 pairs beautifully with another Aalto classic, table 91.
The oak veneer tabletop is adorned with vibrant wood grain patterns.
The Aalto tables 91 and 83 have also been given a new yet old look—the walnut-stained finish evokes their 1950s versions, bringing a touch of history to modern interiors.
These versatile tables, perfect for the kitchen, dining room, or study, are crafted from Finnish wood grown in sustainably managed forests.
Aalto’s beloved A333 and A110 pendants have also been refreshed with an updated hue.
The linen color brings to mind the textile shades that once graced Artek’s collection.
In addition to furniture, the Crafted Through Time collection introduces fresh takes on some of Aalto's most beloved luminaires. The iconic A110, also known as Hand Grenade, and A333, known as Turnip, pendants are now available as special editions in a natural linen hue. The new color adds another layer of history, as Artek's lighting range once featured textile shades in this very same linen tone.
