Description

Mater's Alder stool, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is a minimalist yet sculptural piece where a chunky, column-like base meets a softly rounded seat. Subtle grooves flow across the surface and sides, adding rhythm and a tactile touch.

The Alder collection is crafted from Matek, a biodegradable material made from recycled plastic and wood fibres. Its matte finish, richly textured surface and earthy tones make the series easy to pair with a variety of interiors, while the durable, easy-care material shrugs off everyday knocks and splashes.

    Made from natural
    materials so each piece is unique and the appearance may vary from item to item. A slight change in colour over the years is also to be expected.
    Matek™ furniture has a distinct smell when first
    unpacked, but this will fade after a few days of use.
  • Care instructions Dust the surface with a soft cloth. The surface can be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents and harsh detergents, as these may damage the surface.

Patricia Urquiola

The Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola (b. 1961) lives and works in Milan. In 1991 Urquiola began working for the furniture company De Padova in Milan, where she also designed her first furnitures. Between the years 1996 and 2000 she was the manager of Lissoni Associati Design Group and in 2001 she opened her own studio in Milan, where she focuses on product design and architecture. Urquiola has won several design awards and done many projects with various design companies, for example Kartell and Alessi.

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

15% GST is included in all prices presented on our website.

Private customers: For orders of NZD$1,000 or less, a 15% GST is included in the prices. For orders over NZD$1,000, GST is collected by New Zealand customs and therefore deducted from the total amount. The deduction is visible in the cost breakdown at checkout.

Delivery terms

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by local customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.

Please note that the right to return products does not apply to:

  • Custom-made products which are ordered from the manufacturer according to the customer's wishes.
  • Custom-cut items (including fabrics and replacement webbing).

Please note that returns are subject to a restocking fee, which varies depending on your region and the item being returned. The restocking fee will be deducted from the total refund amount.
