Description

Tapio Anttila Collection’s Day&Night sofa bed holds more than meets the eye. Appearing at first glance as a minimalist daybed, the oak-framed piece effortlessly transforms into two separate beds simply by lifting the top section of the frame onto the floor. Hidden inside the sofa cushions are all the essentials needed to accommodate two overnight guests – all that’s left for you to do is grab some sheets from the cupboard!

  • Inside the sofa cushions, you’ll find two mattress toppers, two duvets and four pillows.
  • The mattresses are connected with a zipper, allowing them to be used as one double bed (180 x 200 cm) or as two single beds (90 x 200 cm).
  • A viscoelastic foam top layer adds extra comfort and support to the mattresses, and both mattresses and pillows come with removable covers.
  • The upholstery fabric has a Martindale rating of 100,000, making it suitable for heavy-duty, everyday use.
  • Optional wooden armrests, sold separately, can be attached to one or both ends of the sofa for a more finished look.

In 2022, the Day&Night sofa bed received the prestigious Prize Designs for Modern Furniture + Lighting award. It has also been honoured with the Good Design Award and the Iconic Awards: Interior Innovation Award.

Timeless, award-winning pieces

Some of Anttila’s best-known works include the popular Day&Night sofa bed, the Aski storage system, and the Piena chair collection, all from his own brand, Tapio Anttila Collection. He is also the designer behind the popular Mixrack series, produced by Maze.

Anttila has received several prestigious awards, including the Kaj Franck Design Prize in 2018 and multiple international Good Design Awards. He was also named Finnish Furniture Designer of the Year in 2012 and received the international Top Designer Award in 2017.

Not impressed with quality. Looks nice but every time you sit on it or change position it makes creeks and othe noises. That is something what I do not expect from 2500€ simple sofa-bed.

Product is good but buyer beware: Finnish Desigh Shop has almost non-existent customer service and this heavy, solid wood frame couch was delievered to the street of my apartment. The delivery does not include taking the furniture into your house or apartment. I had to call someone next door to help me take it inside given that it weights over 100kg. Terrible delivery service that made me regret buying from here.
