Oiva Toikka’s beloved Waiter bird appears in a new, radiant orange plumage. The Waiter continues Iittala’s long-lasting tradition of glassblowing. Since its founding in 1881, the company has evolved from a glass manufacturer into a beacon of Finnish design. Professor Oiva Toikka’s iconic Birds by Toikka collection is a testament to this heritage: the first birds were designed in 1972, and since then, the flock has grown to include more than 400 unique creations.
Each bird is mouth-blown at the Iittala glass factory by a team of up to five skilled glassblowers. Unique individual pieces are then signed with the artist’s name for authenticity. The passing of time enhances the value of these art objects – that is why Birds by Toikka are cherished and valued gifts and irresistible to collectors around the world.
