Innolux’s Salama table lamp brings a bold burst of colour and a dash of boundary-pushing 1980s postmodernism to any room. The name Salama, meaning “lightning” in Finnish, reflects the lamp’s energetic, striking character. Created by Finnish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro, the lamp features a black steel frame paired with translucent acrylic elements cut into neon-tinted shapes that conceal the light source within. The composition is finished with oversized screws that, in true Kukkapuro fashion, are intentionally left visible.
Created in the wake of Kukkapuro’s Perhonen lamp series launched in the 1980s, Salama continued the designer’s playful, colour-driven approach to lighting design, although it wasn’t taken into production until recently. Salama lamps are made in Finland.
