Vitra's Bascule Highback duo-tone lounge chair is where the aesthetics of fashion meets the precision of engineering. The loosely cut fabric cover drapes around the high-backed frame like a coat, and that comparison is no accident: the tailoring techniques were borrowed straight from the world of clothing design. Beneath those beautiful folds sits a clever tilt mechanism that responds to your weight, delivering exactly what the chair's name promises. "Bascule" is French for seesaw, and true to that, the chair tips with your movements from upright to almost horizontal without a single extra lever or button.
