Description

The Pihapuu throw by Lapuan Kankurit combines luxuriously soft warmth with nature-inspired aesthetics – the Finnish word "pihapuu" translates to "yard tree". Designed by Saara Obele, the three-colour pattern is mirrored on the reverse side in contrasting shades, with delicate fringes providing the finishing touch.

The Pihapuu blanket is made from a fine blend of merino wool and bio-organic cotton, offering a texture that feels delightful even against bare skin. The throw has been woven in the town of Lapua, Finland. Did you know that the brand name Lapuan Kankurit literally translates to "weavers of Lapua"?

  • Care instructions Only wash if very dirty, otherwise air the textile outdoors. Hand wash at max. 30°C or dry clean. If using powder detergent, dissolve it in plenty of water. Immerse the blanket and wash immediately. Squeeze gently without scrubbing, stretching, or wringing. Rinse thoroughly and squeeze out most of the water. Press between towels until half-dry, then leave to air dry. Do not tumble dry. Iron with a damp cloth, max. 150°C.

Saara Obele

Saara Obele (b. 1984) is an illustrator and graphic designer. She studies visual communication design at Aalto University. Her work is inspired by colours, contrasts, patterns and Finnish nature with its changing seasons.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

Orders shipped to Australia are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) as following:

For private customers:

  • Orders of AU$1,000 or less (goods value only, excluding shipping and taxes):
    • A 10% GST is included in the prices and paid at checkout.
  • Orders over AU$1,000:
    • GST and any applicable import duties are collected by Australian customs upon arrival and must be paid by the recipient. Since GST is collected by customs, it is deducted from the order total at checkout and shown as a separate line item in the cost breakdown.

Please note that our product pages display prices including 10% GST. As a result, the AU$1,000 threshold effectively applies to orders with a displayed goods value of AU$1,100 or more.

Delivery terms

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by Australian customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.

Please note that the right to return products does not apply to:

  • Custom-made products which are ordered from the manufacturer according to the customer's wishes.
  • Custom-cut items (including fabrics and replacement webbing).
