Description

Fritz Hansen’s After chair explores the interplay of geometric shapes and characterful materials in a warm and inviting way. Crafted from ash with beautiful grain patterns, the chair features solid, vertically structured legs that contrast gracefully with the gently curved seat and backrest. This sturdy wooden chair works equally well as a dining chair in the home or restaurant as it does around a meeting table in the office. The perfect companion to the After chair is the matching dining table from the same collection, and seating comfort can be enhanced with a separately available seat cushion.

Designed by Michael Anastassiades, the After collection brings together classic archetypes and contemporary lines, combining generous proportions with refined, thoughtful details. The name After refers to continuity and timelessness – each piece reflects insights inherited from previous generations while responding to the needs of those to come. The result is furniture that feels both familiar and forward-looking, created to be enjoyed for years to come.

  • Care instructions Maintain oiled wood surfaces with specialist wood oil, an abrasive sponge and a lint-free cloth to prevent drying. The oil penetrates the grain, removes dirt and forms a smooth, matte, water-repellent finish. Recommended to treat twice upon purchase, then 3–4 times per year.

Michael Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades is an English designer who explores contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics by means of product, furniture and environmental design. His objects are often minimal and functional, at the same time positioning between fine art and design in vital and unexpected ways. Anastassiades has trained as a civil engineer and has a master’s degree in industrial design from London’s Royal College of Art, and in 1994 he opened his own studio in London. Anastassiades is a winner of many notable design awards, and his work is featured in permanent collections of museums such as New York’s MoMA, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and Orleans’ FRAC Centre.

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

Orders shipped to Australia are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) as following:

For private customers:

  • Orders of AU$1,000 or less (goods value only, excluding shipping and taxes):
    • A 10% GST is included in the prices and paid at checkout.
  • Orders over AU$1,000:
    • GST and any applicable import duties are collected by Australian customs upon arrival and must be paid by the recipient. Since GST is collected by customs, it is deducted from the order total at checkout and shown as a separate line item in the cost breakdown.

Please note that our product pages display prices including 10% GST. As a result, the AU$1,000 threshold effectively applies to orders with a displayed goods value of AU$1,100 or more.

Delivery terms

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by Australian customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.

Please note that the right to return products does not apply to:

  • Custom-made products which are ordered from the manufacturer according to the customer's wishes.
  • Custom-cut items (including fabrics and replacement webbing).
