What’s new: LAYERED rugs
The vibrantly colored Flower Field rug captures an abstract interpretation of blooming meadows.
FOUNDED IN 2015, the Swedish brand LAYERED emerged from Malin Glemme’s frustration with the limited options in the rug market. With a background in the fashion industry, Glemme had been on the lookout for a high-quality, expressive and eco-friendly rug for her home but couldn’t find the perfect match. Determined to find her ideal rug, she took matters into her own hands by designing a rug herself and having it handmade in India.
Eventually, the rug found its place not only on Glemme’s floor but also graced the pages of a Swedish interior design magazine, sparking widespread interest. Inspired by the overwhelming response, Glemme decided to establish her own design company.
The Residue Shaggy rug boasts a luxuriously fluffy texture and an asymmetrical, organic shape.
The Avenue Checked rug draws inspiration from the straight lines and sharp angles of a metropolitan landscape.
Designed by Swedish artist Evelina Kroon, the Afternoon Sky and Ochre Fields rugs depict the seasonal changes in nature.

Aiming to create new interpretations of classic minimalism without shying away from edge and vibrant colors, the brand’s collection showcases a playful exploration of imaginative hues, shapes and textures, as well as a serene and understated simplicity.

Collaboration with talented contemporary Nordic designers has played a significant role in the LAYERED catalogue. For instance, behind the dreamy Flower Field and The Secret Garden rugs, we find the Copenhagen-based flower shop and design studio Poppykalas, whereas the more graphic Afternoon Sun and Ochre Fields rugs bear the signature of Swedish artist Evelina Kroon.

LAYERED rugs are crafted using only natural fibers and recycled materials. The Flower Field rug is made from a blend of wool and Tencel.
The gracefully undulating edge adds distinction and dynamicity to the lavender-colored Organic Scallop rug.
The rugs are crafted by small, traditional, family-owned weaveries using only natural fibers and recycled materials. For instance, handwoven wool rugs come to life in Bhadohi, India, where the traditions of rug weaving date back to the 16th century. The shaggy wool rugs hail from Samarina, Greece, where artisans have been crafting traditional flokati rugs for more than a thousand years already.
LAYERED’s journey so far can rightfully be called a true success story. The brand has already garnered several prestigious design awards, including the Elle Deco Accessory of the Year award, and has been featured in international publications ranging from Vogue to The New York Times. In the process, LAYERED has become one of the most coveted design brands in Scandinavia, expanding its collection to include furniture design as well.
