TOP 5: Your cozy autumn nest – the most inspiring new products of the month

September graced us with an unusually warmth this year but left no room for doubt – summer is now definitely over. Discover Finnish Design Shop’s latest arrivals for the month and get ready to build your very own autumn nest from where you can enjoy the rain’s rhythm, dimming evenings, and fall colors.

The atmospheric golden glimmer of the Hans ceiling lamp is ideal for brightening up the kitchen, living room, or hallway.

Just like honey

This beauty will definitely sweeten your cozy fall evenings with its honeyed glow. The design of the iconic 1005 Hans ceiling lamp is originally from the pen of designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson but now Vaarnii has redesigned this classic 1960s luminaire. The modern reinterpretation features a stunning twist: the original material has been replaced with lively Finnish pine.

The natural pine wood is the perfect choice for a captivatingly beautiful Hans lamp: the light glows through the surface softly, inviting you to come closer to take a look. The grain patterns add softness and natural charisma to the overall look of the stunning luminaire.

The Aalto armchair 402 is an excellent nest for reading or just casual lounging. Upholstered in wild zebra fabric, the chair also feasts the eyes on grey autumn days.

Unforgettable classic

If you're seeking the perfect armchair to curl up in during those rainy autumn days, we've got you covered. Artek's Aalto armchair 402, among friends also known as Atelje, has a more lightweight structure and five centimeters higher seat height than Alvar Aalto's famous Tank chair. The flexible wooden frame makes the armchair extremely comfortable, following the movements of the sitter. Armchair 402 was one of the pieces of furniture that Aalto presented in 1933 in London at the Fortnum & Mason department store's exhibition.

The inspiration behind the Korean Chives rug arose from memories of lazy mornings with friends and family.

Slow morning magic

The eye-catching Korean Chives jute rug by LAYERED was created in collaboration with Swedish artist Evelina Kroon. The rug's design blurs the line between art and home decor, reminding us that we don't always need to take decorating so seriously.

According to Kroon herself, the Korean Chives rug was inspired by slow sunny mornings spent with your most loved ones gathered around the breakfast table, enjoying everlasting conversations, croissants, and endless cups of coffee – and if you ask our editorial team, we can't think of any better way to start a morning!

Small fringes finish the stylish yet relaxed look of the Punos blanket.

In the soft embrace of wool

Lapuan Kankurit is a Finnish family business known for its minimalist aesthetic, good design, and sustainable development. To guarantee high quality, the company weaves all its wool products at its own mill in Lapua, Finland.

The lovely Punos blanket is decorated with an abstract pattern with vertical and horizontal stripes that intertwine to create a weave-like motif. Whether you're going to have only a quick catnap or a long sleep marathon, this blanket will be your warm and comfy partner in crime.

The Aalto vase and candleholder fascinate with their organic and ambiguous form.

Everything beautiful comes in pairs

Iittala's newcomers are a delightful pair that charms both alone and together. The Aalto vase is one of the icons of Finnish glass art, continually enchanting fans of Nordic design with its unusual, vague form. Designed by Alvar Aalto, the vase was first introduced to the international public in different sizes and colors at the World Fair in Paris in 1937. This autumn's new shade, warm Rio brown, is one of the original colorways and will be available only until the end of the year 2023.

The Aalto candleholder mimics the classic shapes of the Aalto collection. The brass-colored candleholder emphasizes the warm glow of the candles, making it a lovely addition to table settings as well as a decorative item on the windowsill, coffee table, or shelf.
