Trade Program Terms & Conditions

HOW TO JOIN

Membership in the Finnish Design Shop (“FDS”) Trade Program (the “Trade Program”) is available only to professionals, such as interior designers, architects, property developers, and members of design firms, architecture firms and other businesses in the United States. Membership is governed by the following terms and conditions, which FDS may modify at any time without prior notice and at its sole discretion. FDS also reserves the right to terminate the Trade Program at any time, at its sole discretion.

Joining the Trade Program is free of charge. To qualify for Trade Program membership, you must complete an application at the FDS website. Additionally, you must create an account on the FDS website. After submitting the application, you will receive an email asking you to create a password for the account. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

When the application is complete, the FDS contract sales team will either accept or decline it. If accepted, you will have a chance to submit a resale certificate. The resale certificate will be checked by the FDS financial team, and then the client can make purchases on-site without paying sales tax. If you do not have a resale certificate, your purchases on the FDS site may include sales tax in the price.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP

Memberships are non-transferable, and improper use may lead to termination. Examples of misuse include, but are not limited to: purchasing items for personal use with the trade discount, reselling discounted merchandise through any retail or auction platform, requesting reimbursement of the trade discount when returning merchandise, transferring membership to another person, or submitting false, expired, or misleading details during the membership application process. FDS retains the sole discretion to review and revoke a membership if it determines that the membership has been misused.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT

Members can make purchases directly from their accounts and will receive a discount on all products. If better discounts (e.g., sales campaigns) are available on the FDS website, members will receive the best available discount. Orders placed through your Trade Program account are governed by the Finnish Design Shop Terms of Use. The return policy does not apply to orders placed by institutions or companies.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP STATUS

For inquiries regarding membership status or the Trade Program application process, please email us at [email protected]. As a Trade Program member, you are responsible for notifying FDS of any changes in your account information. If you wish to close your account at the FDS website and withdraw from membership in the Trade Program, please email [email protected].

HOW TO MAKE TAX-EXEMPT PURCHASES

To complete tax-exempt purchases in states where you hold tax-exempt status, please follow these steps:

1. Submit valid resale certificates for each applicable state. State regulations require us to maintain a full copy of the resale certificate along with your reseller license or permit. Sales tax is determined by the shipping address, so the appropriate state resale certificate must correspond to the destination of each shipment.

2. Complete all necessary fields and sign each resale certificate and permit you need.

3. Supply completed resale certificates and permits after your membership application is accepted. Only one set of documents is required per company. Once your documentation has been submitted and accepted, it will remain on file, and you will not be required to resubmit it for subsequent purchases. However, we reserve the right to request updated or renewed documentation at our discretion after a specified period, as determined necessary by applicable regulations or internal policies.
