Marimekko’s plate set features two of the brand’s most beloved patterns: Maija Isola’s iconic Unikko and Kivet. The Kivet pattern, created in 1956, draws its inspiration from nature – its rough-edged circles were based on large stones that had been moved from the yard of Isola’s studio. Unikko, on the other hand, was born in 1964 as a protest when Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, announced that no floral fabrics would be printed at the design house. Isola did not accept these rules and restrictions without a fight and ended up designing an entire series of them. One of those prints was Unikko, which quickly became a favorite of Ratia, too.
The set includes four small plates in sweet shades. Both the Unikko and Kivet plates are well-suited for serving as well as for adding a decorative touch to the home. The set comes packaged in a box featuring the Marimekko Logo pattern.
