Ilkka Kauppinen

Ilkka Kauppinen (b. 1988) is a Finnish designer and wood artisan who graduated as an industrial designer from the LAB Institute of Design and Fine Arts in Lahti, Finland. His way of working is defined by spontaneous experimentation, thorough sketching and a strong, hands-on approach – many of his finished pieces take shape through several prototypes. As a wood artisan, Kauppinen’s most cherished and essential material is, naturally, wood, which he values for both its structural qualities and aesthetic character.
