Alexander Calder

American artist Alexander Calder (1898–1976) transformed the art of sculpture by introducing movement, lightness, and playfulness into his work. He is widely regarded as the inventor of the mobile, but over the course of his career, he also created a wide range of other works, including standing sculptures, paintings, lithographs, and textile art.
