Design House Stockholm’s Basket rug is textile designer Lena Bergström’s tribute to Scandinavian craft traditions. Hand-tufted from wool, the rug features a basket-like weave tufted in different directions, recalling traditional Nordic birch bark baskets and rucksacks. A nuanced mix of yarn shades adds a subtle sheen and creates a lively, three-dimensional depth to the surface.
Suitable for both living areas, bedrooms and public spaces, the Basket rug invites you to explore the interplay of form, texture and light. Each piece is crafted by a small family-run workshop in India that is committed to sustainable production and employs young women, supporting their economic independence. In 2019, Basket was awarded Elle Decoration’s Rug of the Year.
