Lapuan Kankurit’s Merellä sauna pillow celebrates Finnish nature with a pattern that pays tribute to the brand’s founder, Liisa Hjelt, who designed many beloved textiles herself. In the late 1970s, Hjelt created the original Merellä wall hangings that brightened Finnish homes. Today, textile designer Elena Helenius has reimagined the motif in a fresh, modern form that brings joy to towels and sauna covers alike.
The sauna pillow is made from a blend of cotton and Masters of Linen-certified linen. The material feels soft and comfortable while keeping the heat from burning your skin. Each piece is woven at Lapuan Kankurit’s weaving mill in Ostrobothnia, Finland, and for every pillow sold, Lapuan Kankurit donates €2 to the John Nurminen Foundation to help protect the Baltic Sea.
