Description

Vitra’s Eames House Bird is a characterful wooden bird that was among the most treasured decorative objects in the home of Charles and Ray Eames. The bird appears in numerous photographs of the couple and even made its way onto a vintage advertising poster for Eames’s metal chairs. Originally a piece of American folk art from the Appalachian Mountains dating back to around 1910, the bird was discovered by the Eameses on their travels.

Vitra produces the Eames House Bird based on the original model. The black bird is made of solid ash treated with a water-based lacquer, and its legs are metal.
