Montana Furniture is a Danish family-owned company known for its modular storage furniture designed for both home and office use. The brand was founded in 1982 by Peter J. Lassen, who also designed many of its most iconic products. Today, the company is led by his son, Joakim Lassen. All Montana Furniture pieces are produced in the brand’s own factory in Denmark.

Montana Furniture – A pioneer in modular design
Founded in 1982, Danish brand Montana Furniture has made a name for itself with its modular storage systems and bold, expressive colour palette. Its founder, Peter J. Lassen, believed that furniture should allow room for individuality, creativity and ever-evolving needs.
Today, the company is run by Peter’s son, Joakim Lassen – a fifth-generation design professional and great-great-grandson of Fritz Hansen.
Montana System and other colourful favourites
Designed by Peter J. Lassen, the Montana System is an icon of modular design built around one simple idea: freedom. The system lets you create a tailor-made solution for your home or workspace – one that grows and adapts along with your life. Based on precisely defined proportions, seamlessly compatible elements and a vibrant colour palette, the system has been developed in collaboration with colour expert Margrethe Odgaard.
Montana’s collection also features iconic pieces by other celebrated Danish designers, including Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and Jakob Wagner.
Designed and made in Denmark
All Montana modules are designed, developed and produced in Denmark, in a small village on the island of Funen. Local production ensures a consistently high quality, visible in every detail – from the smooth assembly to the flawless paint finish.
Montana Furniture uses only water-based lacquers that are free from harmful solvents, making them safer for both people and the planet. The company has also led the way in environmental certifications: Montana’s products carry both the Danish Indoor Climate label and the official EU Ecolabel, proving their sustainability and safety.
