The Punos armchair by Parolan Rottinki is a modern interpretation of the classic rattan chair designed by Hinni Korpela. In the design of the chair, Korpela has played with opposites: in the essence of Punos, you can find something hard and something soft, something new and something traditional, something distinctive and something that blends into a variety of environments.
The Viennese wicker of the seat and backrest is handmade. Each chair is unique and the work of a skilled artisan. The unique details also belong to the nature of the material itself: the surface of natural rattan can show different color variations or annual growth rings. A fun addition to the look of the Punos chair is the leather detail in the leg structure of the chair.
Since rattan is a tropical type of wood, furniture made from it also thrives best in slightly humid conditions. Mechanical ventilation, a nearby heat source, or even hot sunshine can dry out and thus make the rattan brittle; these should be taken into account when choosing a place for a rattan chair. When used outdoors, rattan furniture tolerates temperature fluctuations well, but it is advisable to place it in a shelter from direct sunlight, rain, and snow.
