Sibast

Sibast Furniture has represented Danish design, craftsmanship, and family heritage since 1908. The story began when Peder Olsen Sibast opened a small carpentry workshop in the Danish countryside – the same year his son, Helge Sibast, was born. Raised among tools and timber, Helge would later carry the company forward, not only as a skilled cabinetmaker but also as a visionary designer.

In the 1950s, Helge Sibast created several pieces that would go on to define the brand’s identity, most notably the Sibast No 7 and No 8 chairs, both now considered icons of mid-century design. Sibast Furniture quickly gained international recognition for its refined craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic, with pieces finding their way into prestigious destinations such as the White House and the Vatican. The company also collaborated with notable Danish designer Arne Vodder during this golden era.

Although the company changed ownership in 1984, the design legacy of Helge Sibast lived on. In 2012, his grandson Ditlev Sibast and Ditlev’s wife Anna relaunched Sibast Furniture with a renewed passion for quality and timeless form. Today, the fourth-generation family business remains deeply rooted in its heritage while looking ahead. Alongside original Helge Sibast classics, the collection now includes new pieces developed in collaboration with contemporary designers—each staying true to the spirit of Danish modernism.
