Moomin Arabia
Moomin Arabia is a collection of Moomin products by Arabia, one of Finland's most renowned brands. The residents of Moominvalley first appeared as ceramic designs in the 1950s when artist Tove Jansson created Moomin-themed dishes and her mother, Signe "Ham" Hammarsten Jansson, crafted ceramic Moomin figures. In the 1990s, Moomin mugs designed by illustrator Tove Slotte quickly became favourites among both children and adults. Since then, Moomin Arabia products have been cherished as delightful everyday items and valuable collectables worldwide. Today, the collection includes not only dishware but also textiles.

Moomin Arabia: A touch of Moomin magic for every corner of your home
The enchanting partnership between Finnish ceramics brand Arabia and Tove Jansson, the beloved creator of the Moomins, goes all the way back to the 1950s. Jansson designed the first Moomin-themed tableware, while her mother, Signe “Ham” Hammarsten-Jansson, brought the characters to life in ceramic form.
The Moomins had already taken their first steps into the world in 1945 with the publication of the very first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood.
Moomin mugs – a global collector’s phenomenon
A new Moomin era dawned in the 1990s, when the hugely popular animated TV series introduced the characters to an entirely new generation. Around the same time, Arabia launched its first tableware pieces featuring individual Moomin characters.
The illustrations by Tove Slotte turned the Moomin mugs and dishes into highly sought-after collector’s items across the globe. By the end of the decade, the Moomin range had begun to take shape: alongside the classic character mugs came seasonal editions for summer and winter, plus special releases like the limited-edition Moomin Day mugs – some of which now sell for eye-watering sums.
From tableware to homeware
In 2023, Moomin Arabia expanded beyond tableware into a full range of home products. Today, the collection includes a delightful assortment of ceramic and glass dishes and serving pieces, as well as textiles and interior accessories – from Moomin-themed bed linen and towels to bags and water bottles.
The ceramic pieces are still based on the timeless Teema series by legendary designer Kaj Franck – a functional and durable design that blends beautifully with other Arabia pieces.
