Arabia’s Mustakukka mug features a floral motif that is a typical example of decoration designer Esteri Tomula’s work: during her almost 40 years working as a decorator for Arabia, she became known for her abundantly detailed patterns depicting various types of plants. The floral pattern, whose name translates to “black flower”, has not been in production in black and white before, but a variation of it has been seen in other colours in Tomula's other pattern designs.
In 2021, Mustakukka was dug up from Arabia’s archives and paired with a modern, clean-lined form familiar from Arabia’s Mainio series. The 3 dl mug is easily combinable with the rest of Arabia’s Beloved Patterns collection as well as any modern tableware in black or white, for example. The Mustakukka mug is made of dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer proof vitro porcelain – an extremely functional material perfect for everyday use.
