Description

The Baltic Herrings glass artwork by Juhani and Pirkko Salovaara depicts a group of small fish swimming in the Archipelago Sea and reminds about the importance of protecting fragile marine areas. The beautiful, transparent artwork is mounted slightly off the wall with included fittings, so that the engraved fish will cast shadows on the wall and create an impression of a herring school floating in the depths of the sea. You can also place it free-standing on a wall shelf, for example. The product has been manufactured by the Finnish company Kaune, and 50 euros of the proceeds will go directly to the Unique Archipelago Sea operation.

Finnish Design Shop’s Archipelago Sea collection resulted from an initiative of the Unique Archipelago Sea (Ainutlaatuinen Saaristomeri) operation. Well-known Finnish designers have contributed to this unique collection aimed at protecting Finland’s Archipelago Sea. Consisting of more than 41,000 islands, the Archipelago Sea is one of the richest natural areas in Finland in terms of biodiversity, but continuous eutrophication is a serious threat to its future. Part of the collection's proceeds will be directed to a program for recycling nutrients in the Archipelago Sea. All products are handmade in Finland and only available at Finnish Design Shop.

Shipping & Delivery

If all the items in your order are in stock, your order will be dispatched from our warehouse in Finland within two working days. The estimated delivery time is shown on the product pages and at checkout.

The shipping cost is based on the destination, weight, and volume of the shipment and will be calculated automatically. You will see the exact rate, available shipping options and estimated delivery date at checkout once you have filled in your address details.

Please note that your order will be delivered as one full shipment once all the items are in stock.

Orders shipped to Australia are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) as following:

For private customers:

  • Orders of AU$1,000 or less (goods value only, excluding shipping and taxes):
    • A 10% GST is included in the prices and paid at checkout.
  • Orders over AU$1,000:
    • GST and any applicable import duties are collected by Australian customs upon arrival and must be paid by the recipient. Since GST is collected by customs, it is deducted from the order total at checkout and shown as a separate line item in the cost breakdown.

Please note that our product pages display prices including 10% GST. As a result, the AU$1,000 threshold effectively applies to orders with a displayed goods value of AU$1,100 or more.

Delivery terms

Orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis. This means that any GST, import duties or other charges assessed by Australian customs or the carrier must be paid by the recipient in order to release the shipment.

We want you to love your purchase—that’s why we offer 30-day returns.

Please note that the right to return products does not apply to:

  • Custom-made products which are ordered from the manufacturer according to the customer's wishes.
  • Custom-cut items (including fabrics and replacement webbing).

Please note that returns are subject to a restocking fee, which varies depending on your region and the item being returned. The restocking fee will be deducted from the total refund amount.

Please find detailed return instructions and detailed information about return policy here: Returns

Please note that the return policy only applies to private customers.

GST & Import Charges

By providing a valid Australian Business Number (ABN), you confirm that you are registered for GST in Australia. In this case, GST is collected by Australian customs and therefore deducted from the order total at checkout. This deduction is shown as a separate line item in the cost breakdown.
